In May of 2023 we made an adjustment to our recipe regarding the source of iron in our formula. You will notice our iron source is now listed as Ferrous Sulphate. Ferrous Sulphate and Iron Pyrophosphate are both approved sources of iron within the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (FDA). In fact, Ferrous Sulphate is the most commonly used source of iron in infant formula globally and is also in our Goat Formula.

This is only a minor change and the iron levels in our formula remain unchanged to meet both EU and FDA requirements for infant formula.

Will my baby notice a difference?

Iron makes up about 0.01% of our recipe, so most babies may not even notice the difference. Remember, the amount of iron isn’t changing, only its source. If your little one does seem to notice a difference, it’s likely that the formula tastes a little different.

The wellbeing of your little one is always our top priority. We will continue working closely with experts and regulators to ensure our unique recipes are updated to align with new regulations, research, and guidelines, all while remaining true to what makes Kendamil so special.

If you have any doubts about which source of iron is in your formula, please consult the ingredients section on the back of your infant formula can.”

Hi Lauren! Thanks for supporting Kendamil

We’ve seen your video and we’re hoping we could answer any questions directly to help alleviate your concerns. A member of our product team is standing by to help.

All Kendamil products are proudly European-made - either at our factory in Kendal in the Lake District or at one of our world-class partner facilities. Rest assured that the recipe and ingredients for Kendamil products made at our factory or at one of our world-class partner facilities remain the same.

Classic made at our partner facility in Spain may be lighter in color and taste a little less sweet, but this is largely due to a gentler heating step at some stages of the production. This heating process is designed to ensure maximum infant safety while (where possible) minimizing unnecessary heat that risks ‘denaturing’ proteins within our natural whole milk.

Rest assured that the recipe and ingredients for Kendamil products made at our factory or at one of our world-class partner facilities remain the same.
