We voluntarily adhere to the strictest European standards for heavy metals across all our U.S. products and test in accordance with the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment Prop 65 Maximum Allowable Dose Level (MADL) for heavy metals in baby food—recognized as one of the highest safety benchmarks.  As parents we completely understand – and share – your concerns about heavy metals in baby food and their cumulative exposure and we take this extremely seriously. Heavy metals do naturally occur in soil, water, and food, including infant formula and even breast milk. While their presence can’t be entirely eliminated, we are committed to minimizing levels and reasonably reducing exposure.

Yes. Every batch of Kendamil baby food undergoes rigorous internal and third-party testing for a wide range of potential contaminants, including heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury), pesticide residues, acrylamide, bisphenols, aluminum, and PFAS.

We voluntarily adhere to the strictest European standards, and test in accordance with California's Proposition 65 — the most stringent in the U.S. We also stay informed by the FDA's Closer to Zero initiative, which provides guidance to reduce exposure to heavy metals in baby food.

Minimizing exposure to contaminants starts with careful sourcing. We partner with trusted European family farms that use sustainable agricultural practices. All ingredient suppliers must meet our rigorous safety standards and undergo regular audits. We conduct advanced third-party testing on both raw ingredients and finished products.

Absolutely. All raw materials are tested for contaminants before production begins. We enforce strict supplier controls and only work with partners who share our high safety and quality standards.

We test for these contaminants in parts per billion (ppb) — a scientific way of measuring extremely small amounts. To give you an idea, 1 ppb is like one second in nearly 32 years. If a result is listed as ‘ND’, it means ‘not detected’ — the third party lab did not find any measurable amount above their detection threshold. For lead, our third-party lab can detect levels as low as 5 ppb, so 'ND' means the amount present (if any) is below that threshold. This doesn’t mean the level is 5 ppb — it means it’s lower, but 5 ppb is the smallest amount the lab is able to technically measure.

Natural environmental factors can affect the levels of certain elements, even in high-quality ingredients. This variation can occur from soil, water, or climate conditions at the source. Our focus is always on reducing those levels as much as possible, across all our products.
